About the Event

Front Runners and Latest Developments

The Philippines holds its 2022 Presidential Election on 9 May and regardless of its winner, policy changes are to be expected under a new administration.

In this light, we have invited former Dean Dr. Tony La Viña of the School of Government to provide us with his longstanding experience and insights on the various candidates. Topics to be covered include among others: expectations of the Elections, including the front runners, polling and public opinion, implications for the local political landscape, insights on various candidates campaign promises and how these might affect the Dutch business community in the Philippines.

Following his speaker presentation, we will open to floor to questions from the audience, where also Dean Ronald U Mendoza will join our session for an engaging discussion.

Programme:

17:00 – 17:05 Opening of Programme and Word of Welcome - H.E. Saskia de Lang, Netherlands Ambassador (TBC)

17:05 – 17:35 Speaker Presentation - Dr. Tony La Viña, Ateneo de Manila University

17:35 – 17:55 Open Floor and Discussion - Dr. Tony La Viña, Ateneo de Manila University and Dr. Ronald U. Mendoza, Ateneo de Manila University; Moderated by the President of DCCP
