The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected more than 16 million people around the world. With the lack of any specific vaccines or treatments, understanding the virus is the best way to prevent and slow down its transmission.

DCCP, in cooperation with the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and BASF Philippines, would like to invite you to this Webinar: A Closer Look To The Pandemic – Understanding COVID-19.   Dr. Edsel Maurice Salvana of National Institutes of Health and Technical Advisor of DOH for IATF, will describe how the virus spreads in communities, businesses and households. He will also explain the meaning of the various test results and what should an affected individual do to prevent the spread of the disease.

Our speaker, Edsel Maurice T. Salvana, MD, DTM&H, FPCP, FIDSA received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. He trained in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and did his fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He returned in 2008 as a Balik Scientist of the Department of Science and Technology. He is currently the Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the National Institutes of Health and is an associate professor of medicine at the Philippine General Hospital. He is also adjunct faculty for Global Health at the University of Pittsburgh.
